potting table and indoor greenhouses

I’ve been making do with a potting area in 2 spots in the basement. However, my knees didn’t appreciate all the kneeling on the floor.

When we cleaned up the basement, we moved these shelves into this spot by the water heater. It seems to be the perfect spot which we can’t use for much else.

On this side I have storage boxes for netting for the crop cages, along with my seed storage box and the plastic cloches for protecting plants from frost.

On this side, I’m using an under-the-bed storage box as my workspace for filling seed trays and pots. Underneath are empty seed trays, plastic pots, pots recycled from a local nursery, tools, and my catch-all container.

By the way, I’ve been pleased with the Burpee seed starting trays. I found them first at Walmart; they’re slightly cheaper on Amazon. The seedlings pop right out of the individual spots without damaging the roots.

We also moved my indoor greenhouses down to the basement to reclaim the breakfast room. Initially, I was concerned about forgetting to check these daily, but so far, I’ve had no issues. We have a utility sink nearby for filling up recycled water jugs. This winter I want to develop this area into an indoor growing area for greens, herbs, and seedlings for next year.

  1. That looks awesome! You are really into this gardening thing. I planted 6 flats of pansies over the weekend and I know what you mean about the knees protesting. Mine are screaming at me but at least I’m all finished for now so maybe after they rest, they will calm down and be quiet!
