breakfast room update

Our breakfast room is finally moving along! After putting a coat of primer on the top half of the walls where the wallpaper was, I started cutting in the color. My original choice was Sherwin Williams Windy Blue, however, I decided on the final choice of Jasper Stone at the store. Jasper Stone is similar to the Behr Venture we used many, many years ago in our old living room. And, Venture came about because my aunt chose it for her shore house.

My English lab, Winston, had to be part of the painting process which became problematic. He started chewing on the drop cloth. Not good. I ended up putting him out of the room and blocking off the entrance with chairs.

Today, my hubby helped me finish cutting in the green and roll the first coat of paint. For some reason, the paint does not apply well with a brush.

My other concern was the difference between the primed areas and the area that started out as a yellow beige. I think the beige gives the paint a yellow tone instead of the blue tone I was looking for.

Once the green is finished, I’m going to repaint the molding in high gloss white. I had planned on waiting, but it was a lot of effort to break the room down for updating the walls. The molding also needs to be refreshed.

After I started cutting in the color, I realized that it was similar to my collection of blue Ball jars! I may need to move the jars to another room to help them stand out against another color.

Now the first coat is finished, I’m happy with the color. Yes, I do plan on replacing the light with one with a brushed nickel finish. The light switches and outlet covers will also be brushed nickel.
