I recently started reading the ChooseFI newsletter. My favorite part is the 1% better section, where readers share their 1% success stories. My 1% better today is draining the last drops from the maple syrup bottle.

We buy regular maple syrup from Costco or Kroger. I’ve been on a roll recently with deals from Kroger for organic maple syrup. I found this bottle on the counter waiting to go out to the recycling bin, but there was still maple syrup in the bottom. I set up the bottle in a half-pint mason jar on the counter and let it drain into the jar. There’s about 1/2 inch of maple syrup sitting in the jar!
One last note: The red wine vinegar bottle to the left has a mother growing in it. While we don’t use a lot of red wine vinegar, I was curious about using the mother to start another batch of red wine vinegar. According to my research, it is possible though it may take several months. I would need to purchase a bottle of red wine to make a batch. Seems like something to try!
