grocery budget challenge 3/14

Today’s trip turned into another higher than budgeted purchase, however, I’m okay with the results for our grocery budget.

The monthly total to date is: $675.71 In January, we spent $1078.66. My goal is to come in at that amount or below it.

Weekly Shopping: $171.44

  • I found a carton of 60 eggs in the reduced dairy section for $14.49 ($.24/egg). Normally they are about $28.
  • 13-gallon store-brand trash bags were on sale for $4 less than normal.
  • Kroger brand maple syrup was on sale for $2 less.
  • Cabbage was $.25/lb.
  • Asparagus was on sale for $.99
  • Skippy “Less Sugar” Peanut Butter was on sale for $.139/ounce.
  • I bought a package of boneless skinless chicken breast on sale for $1.99/lb with a $1.50 off coupon for the family member who requested chicken nuggets.
