electricity challenge 3/7/25

I started my electricity challenge on February 27, the day after our last meter reading. For the March bill, the final reading was 984. Today, the reading was 1000. The average daily Kw was 1.77.

What I did this week

  • Turned off my computer and the power strip it is attached to. I only turn on the computer when I need to use it.
  • Work on reducing my dryer usage. When I ran the dryer, I tried to keep the time as short as possible using the Quick Dry setting.
  • Unplugged the phone charging station during the day. I also unplugged my phone charger and plugged it in only overnight.
  • Kept the house temperature at 62 degrees. With warmer temperatures outside, this 1 degree reduction has not been noticeable.
  • Use the countertop oven for baking. It’s a little difficult making cookies this way. I think it would be worth doing baking a batch of cookies in the wall oven since I could put in 3 trays at a time.
  • Unplug my iPad and bathroom safety light during the day.
  • Unplug my treadmill. When I need to walk, I head outside.
  • Unplug my cordless Dyson vacuum. I plan on charging it once a week on Sundays.
