saving money on outdoor lighting: solar lights

I love, love solar lights. Given Virginia’s electricity cost, I am all about finding ways to use solar.

I bought this type of light in December for our Christmas lighting. It’s worked fairly well illuminating the front of the house, though I may need to move them once the leaves appear on the trees. For now, they get just enough light on a sunny day to spotlight our home. I found them at Home Depot for about $10 to $12.

I found these soar lights at Target about 5 years ago. They came in a set and probably cost around $15 to $20. I have 12 of them set up in 4 locations in our yard.

This spring, I’d like to add some solar lights along the driveway and the front steps for extra curb appeal. I’ve been earning points for gift cards to pay for the lights through Fetch.
