use it up: conditioner

When I was listening to Debt Free Dana recently, she mentioned using every last bit of shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. I had to laugh as I had just discovered how much conditioner I could have wasted if I had just thrown the bottle away.

I buy big bottles of conditioner on sale at Ulta for the no-poo method for my dry curly hair. Recently I thought I ran out of conditioner in one of those big bottles, but the bottle felt heavy. It didn’t make sense.

When I looked inside the bottle, I could see the product at the bottom. I tried getting the product to drip into another bottle but no go. Then, I grabbed a knife and cut off the top of the bottom to discover there was still about 3 inches of product in the bottom. The product had solidified enough to prevent it from moving easily.

Generally, I use up every last drop of items, however, this was not something on my list. I hate to think of how money I’ve thrown away over the years by not investigating every bottle and container.
