sofa pillow fix

Last week, I washed the covers on one of our sofas to remove the dog hair and slobber. I like to do this every few months to keep the sofa nice. Unfortunately, I forgot that I had accidentally slid the pull tab off the zipper. And, I lost the pull tab afterward.

I tried to order a replacement cover online with no success. So I headed to JoAnn Fabrics to buy a new pull tab to put back on the cushion cover. I had to buy a package of them for about $17.50. Then I stopped by the store we bought the sofa from to see if they could help. While the sofa is discontinued, it was under warranty. This week I’m calling to see what can be done about the cushion cover.

In the meantime, I needed my cushion back on the sofa. My husband put a new pull tab on the cover, and we worked together to fill the cushion and zip it back up. The pull tab was a little big for the zipper, however we made it work. Concerned about zipper failure, I decided to temporarily sew the cushion closed using heavy-weight thread.

I did a simple stitch to cover the zipper and prevent the filling from coming out. If I need to send the cover back to the company, I can easily remove the stitching. In the meantime, we can use the cushion on our sofa. To quote Martha, it’s a good thing.
