frugal friday 11.8.24

  1. Using stuff up in the fridge – We have a somewhat empty fridge this week. Now that I think about it, I like having a somewhat empty fridge because it pushes us to get creative with our cooking. We arrived at this status thanks to a trip to Pennsylvania for 3 days for a funeral.
  2. Beef broth made – I made a fresh batch of beef broth/stock, whatever you call it. Because it’s primarily for the dogs, and also me as additional collagen, I roasted beef bones and cooked them in water for several hours.
  3. Food/Water while traveling – Before we left for PA, my daughter and I hit Aldi’s for snacks and water. A big jug of water was $1.49! We used 2 1/2 between the 4 of us. We bought chicken wrap at Wawa for my husband who ended up not eating it, and I had leftover pizza from our Saturday night dinner. I finished the pizza on the way home and ate the chicken wrap on Monday.
  4. Water bottles for tomato plants – I transplanted my tomato plants into larger containers. I’ll be sharing more about the indoor tomatoes. Anyway, I used a combination of water bottles from the PA trip and vinegar containers for the tomatoes.
  5. Used small paintbrush in bathroom – I’m almost done painting our powder room. I ran into an issue with the moulding next to the door. The corner is very small, giving me little space to get a brush in to paint the moulding. I grabbed one of the paint brushes from my kids’ painting supplies and used that to paint the tight corner.
