travel project: easy knitted blanket

I circled back to knitting this fall. I knitted a lot when my kids were younger. Mostly socks which were interesting enough yet short enough as a project to keep me interested. Hmm, I operate the same way when it comes to fitness. I guess I like to keep moving when doing stuff.

We had to travel to Pennsylvania this past weekend for a funeral mass for my father-in-law. I decided to bring along a knitting project which turned out to be a lacy blanket. While at JoAnn Fabrics picking up fabric for my daughter for a high school sewing project, yarn in the clearance section caught my eye. Each roll was about $5.50. I bought 10.

Since the pattern called for a 32-inch circular #10 needle, I had to buy one. The blanket is knitted on the long side, rather than from end to end. I found a pretty pinkish-red wooden one at a local yarn store for about $14.50. The pattern was pretty easy, though I struggled a bit with keeping track of the yarn overs. I had to keep counting the stitches to ensure I had the right amount. Thanks to my Barnes and Noble membership, I had a bag to transport my project in.
