If you want to start an argument in a gardening group, ask people for deer solutions. And then step very, very, very far away from the computer.
Given the highly visible aspect of our garden, the presence of deer, and my desire not to spend all my money on deer deterrent spray, I’ve been searching high and low for attractive, frugal ways to protect plants from deer. Alas, the internet was very lacking. Nevertheless, I persisted.

This is a wire trash can from the Dollar Tree. It cost me $1.25. The package of landscape staples I picked up from Walmart was probably about $5. The trash can came in black and white. I chose black for the less obtrusive profile.

I used 4 staples to secure the trash can in case the deer decided to kick the can.

Underneath is a bush blueberry from Tractor Supply. They’re intended for pots. I liked the lower profile along the road.
