Last year, I did most of my vegetable gardening in pots due to our deer issues. I was somewhat successful. The back porch pots did the best, though I had to deal with tomato hornworms. The pots on the ground in the main sunny spot in the yard were impacted by heat and deer. We’re planning on turning that main sunny spot into an enclosed garden, but that’s going to take some time. We have to remove the existing tree stump, mulch, and landscape fabric. After that, we may need to get permission to install a fence around the garden from our HOA. While we’re not fencing the yard, we are fencing a small area.
In the meantime, I decided to go back to pots on the back porch. I’m going to stick to greens and herbs. I want to be sure I do these pots well and not waste money on soil, plants, and seeds. All the plants in the pots right now came from the local Home Depot. In addition, I planted snap pea seeds in the light gray pot in the corner.
